BLOG RESURRECTIONIt's been so damn long since I've last updated my blog. Guess what I've been doing? Serving NS, duh. Time flies, seriously. In a blink of an eye, it's already July! Wow, that means I've been in NS for... 5 months! Another 1 year 5 months to go... The reason why I wanted to update this lonely blog is that I felt that I should note down the things that have happened in my NS life, just like what I've done for my secondary school and JC life. I wanted to create a new blog altogether but I was just too lazy to lazy to find a blogskin, needless to say, think of a blog name and url. I don't know, this might be a temporary place for me to update the stuff that happens every week. I kept a diary during my BMT period, but sadly, it stopped at the fieldcamp part. I was too lazy (yes, again) to continue writing it. Everyone was so skeptic about me writing a diary. I mean, what's wrong with a guy writing a diary. So only girls can keep a diary?
a daily record, usually private, especially of the writer's own experiences, observations, feelings, attitudes, etc. Oh well, I continued writing my diary despite all the weird looks that some of my bunk mates give me until I got bored of writing a diary. Then in SCS Foundation Term, I didn't keep a diary, but was told to write weekly reflections, boring. Coming to MP for Pro Term, we were told to write journals but it's more like writing reflections though. I'd say that I've learnt quite a lot during this 5 months. Like handling friendships, managing interpersonal skills, being independent as well as working in a group. Of course, I've made some good friends along the way, but I still thought that my Ben10 friends are the best, don't know why. Nevertheless, I continued making new friends because I can't possibly have only 10 good friends in my entire life. Along the way, I learned how to make better decisions, weighing the possibilities and learning from challenges posed everyday in my army life. A lot of people say that the two years in NS is a waste of time. Well, I don't deny that, but to me, it is period of time for us to learn the necessary skills before we embark on an arduous journey in the working society. It may be too early to learn these skills, but I'm sure it will come in handy as I complete my university education. Speaking of university, it has been a major major major dilemma for me to choose the course. I was struggling between NUS Architecture and NTU Biomed. Sci. & Chinese Med. It was a damn long story about how I made my choice eventually. Basically, I guessed that my parents wanted me to enter NTU because after all, TCM is a lifelong skill and it would be extremely useful in future when I apply those knowledge to keep myself and my family healthy. And Architecture would be a tough course because of the tremendous amount of stress and workload. Therefore, I put NTU as my choice and accepted their offer. Two weeks later when I was talking to my friend about my courses, I was shocked to find that his friends, who graduated from the TCM course, didn't managed to find a job. One of them even went to study part-time! I was like, alright this is bad news. I went to tell my parents about it and the first reaction that my mother gave was 'Har, then 怎么办?' I was like '怎么办?还不是你们叫我读这个course的!' Okay and we started arguing about the person who made me accept NTU's offer. Eventually I contacted NUS to ask whether I could still accept their offer despite the deadline for the application was over. They asked me to state my excuse and that it would be processed and a reply would be given to me in 5 working days. I think they were quite desperate for students, or maybe they were just happy to have one more student joining their university, they immediately agreed and opened the application window for me to select the offer again. I was so happy that I chose Architecture. The one whole month of dilemma was finally over, phew. At least I know that I wouldn't be earning a meagre pay of $800 if I work as a sensei in Eu Yan Sang, even a lousy architect would be earning at least two times more I guess, but I shouldn't pin my hopes too high and just be a humble ol' architect (who aims to earn $10k a month hahaha). Can't wait to get out of the army and study in uni, argh! Alright, time to go. I've got to study military law and there's early book-in today :( See you next week! |
